THE CHESAPEAKE PROJECT

This is a project that grew from my love of wetlands and my fascination with the relationships between the all the parts of and our impact on them. Using my training as science illustrator I am trying to create a 3-dimensional-ish illustration that will be an arresting interpretation of the Chesapeake Bay food web that will encourage people to think about the animals and plants of the bay and their place in it.

Why functional ware and not sculpture?  I like the idea of the individual pieces serving a useful purpose both in function and as reminders of the cost of our life style.
